Insightful Guest Lecture on EU Industrial Decarbonization and Circular Economy Policies by Dr. Evgeni Evgeniev, member of the European Commission

On February 17, 2026, University of Economics – Varna hosted a public lecture dedicated to one of the leading policy priorities at European level: “European Union policies in the field of industrial decarbonization and the circular economy through research and innovation lenses.”

The guest lecturer, Dr. Evgeni Evgeniev from the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, Directorate “Prosperity” at the European Commission, provided valuable first-hand insights into the strategic priorities of the European Union. His presentation outlined current EU initiatives aimed at accelerating industrial decarbonization, fostering sustainable economic transformation, and strengthening innovation-driven competitiveness across Member States. Dr. Evgeniev highlighted the European Commission’s future plans, funding mechanisms, and policy actions designed to support businesses, research institutions, and policymakers in the transition toward a greener and more resilient industrial model.
