The Department of Marketing is the first specialized scientific unit in Bulgaria, focusing on the theoretical and applied aspects of marketing. It was established on June 17, 1997 and since then it has been one of the fastest and most dynamically developing scientific units both at the University of Economics - Varna and in Bulgaria. In 2022 the department will celebrate its 25th anniversary.
The Department of Marketing administers three specialties in the Bachelor's degree - "Marketing", "Digital Media and PR" and "International Business" (in English) and three master's programs - "Sales Management and Merchandising", "Advertising and Media Communications" and "Marketing and Brand Management". All master's programs are offered in the form of distance learning, which facilitates the educational process of all working students and is in line with current trends in the education market. The department successfully trains students in the doctoral program "Marketing" and supports them on the way to the acquisition of their PhD.
The teaching staff of the department is distinguished by active scientific work and strong connections and partnerships with the business practice. The scientific achievements and recognitions of the teachers go beyond the borders of the country. Every year they publish their work in national and international scientific journals. Lecturers of the department are also honorary members of highly respected international editorial boards and marketing associations. The academic staff of the Department of Marketing manages and advises a number of projects financed by the World Bank, EU operational programs, local government and private business.
