University of Economics - Varna hosted an international workshop on the project "Digital Employer Engagement and Learning for Hospitality and Tourism under Pandemic and Other Crisis Situations" DEELforHOST in the period April 15 and 17, 2024.
It was attended by 9 representatives of partner universities of UE-Varna under the DEELforHOST project from Cyprus, Greece, Latvia and Spain, as well as the European Association of Erasmus Coordinators.
In the discussion panels included in the program, operational issues related to the implementation of project activities, achieved results and upcoming events were discussed.
The format hosted by UE-Varna is of the Learning/Teaching/Training Activities type, with the main focus of the working sessions being on testing the functionalities of a platform created in the implementation of the project, proposals for revisions and improvements, before its presentation within upcoming events to the attention of target user groups.
The platform is a main result of the implementation of the DEELforHOST project. Its goal is to bridge the digital divide between higher education and hotel and tourism industries. Both sectors face challenges due to technological and societal change, with an urgent need for improved digital readiness. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated these issues, impacting industry and employment. The task we set ourselves together with the partners in the implementation of the DEELforHOST project was to create an innovative platform for digital communication and cooperation between these sectors, which is beneficial for both students and businesses.
DEELforHOST project is financed under the ERASMUS + programme, Key Activity 2, direction "Partnerships for cooperation in higher education". The duration of the project is 28 months, with an implementation period 28.02.2022 - 27.08.2024. The total budget for the implementation of the project is 239 926 euros.
