On 21.06.2024, the University of Economics - Varna' team for the organization, management and implementation of the DEELforHOST 2021-1-EL01-KA220-HED-000032159 project, financed under the ERASMUS + program, hosted an event "Workshop on Digital Employer Engagement and Learning for Hospitality and Tourism under pandemic and other crises". The event is a Multiplier event and aims to share and popularize the results of the project implementation with stakeholders from the hospitality and tourism industries.
The goal of the DEELforHOST project is to bridge the digital divide between higher education and the hotel and tourism industries. Both sectors face challenges due to technological and societal changes, with a pressing need to improve digital readiness. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated these issues as it has affected these two industries and employment within them. DEELforHOST project aims to promote communication, cooperation and learning between higher education institutions and the hospitality and tourism industries (HTI), and to improve the digital interaction between higher education institutions and the hospitality and tourism industries through an interactive online platform.
Within the framework of the event, the possibilities of the main result of the project - an interactive digital platform for online communication, collaboration and training within the hospitality and tourism industries - were presented. Participants had the opportunity to test the platform's functionalities, as a result of which the DEELforHOST project organization, management and implementation team received valuable feedback, which will be applied for the purpose of building a digital tool to help its users.
Guests and participants in the event were students from Professional High School of Tourism "Professor Dr. Asen Zlatarov", city of Varna, College of Tourism - Varna, companies that own hotels, Varna Tourist Chamber, Center for Youth Activities and Initiatives - Targovishte, Regional historical museum - Varna, Association for Innovation, Education and Development - Varna, Varna Airport, European Air Charter, etc.
