The Advisor to the Head of the Odessa Regional State Administration and Assistant of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of South Africa to Ukraine Yuriy Shibanov visited the International Relations Office at the University of Economics – Varna yesterday.
Mr. Shibanov discussed with Evgeni Raychev, head of the IRO, and Eng. Georgi Petrov, head of the ‘Students’ Sector at UE – Varna, the opportunities for inter-institutional agreements between the University and a number of Ukrainian higher education institutions, with the purpose of student and staff mobility and the mutual development of degree programmes. They further discussed possible dual diploma programmes for Bachelor’s and Mester’s degrees, as well as the conditions for signing franchize contracts.
Mr. Shibanov was most impressed with the high number of Ukrainian institutions which UE – Varna partners with, as well as with the opportunities which the University offers to its international studens. He offered his assistance in UE – Varna’s campaign for attracting Ukrainian citizens as Bachelor’s and Master’s students.
During the meeting, Eng. Petrov shared his concerns that, as a result of the current situation, UE – Varna’s Ukrainian students, who are curretly back in Ukraine, are unable to return to Bulgaria to attend their exams. Mr. Shibanov promised to raise this matter to the Ukrainian authorities.
The IRO’s meeting with Mr. Shibanov was organised and conducted with the support of Mr. Mihail Penchev, UE – Varna’s alumnus and a representative of Varna’s business.
