Yes, the application fee is in amount of 120 BGN (61,36 EURO).

There is also an enrollment fee in amount of 70 BGN (35,79 EURO) for Bachelor and Masters degree. This fee can be paid upon student's arrival to Varna in Students Affairs department.

Bachelor programmes

• The grades in Mathematics plus one optional subject on their secondary school diploma must be higher than 62% of the maximum grade according to the grading scale in the country where secondary school diploma was obtained.
• For programmes delivered in English or Russian, the applicant must verify his/her English/Russian language proficiency by presenting an internationally recognized certificate confirming B2 or higher level of language proficiency according to the Common European Language Framework or by passing a language exam at UE – Varna

Master programmes

• The applicant must have a Grade Point Average no less than 62% of the maximum grade according to the grading scale of the country where the diploma was issued
• For programmes delivered in English, the applicant must verify his/her English language proficiency by presenting an internationally recognized certificate confirming B2 or higher level of language proficiency according to the Common European Language Framework or by passing a language exam at UE – Varna

Doctorate programmes

• The Academic Research and PhD Studies Department evaluates the opportunities for the applicant’s enrollment based on the chosen subject and academic direction in which the candidate is interested. 

• The length of the application procedure depends on the programme the student is applying for (Bachelor, Master or Doctorate) and the country the applicant is from. The Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science takes between 2 and 4 weeks to process the documents of each applicant. The Ministry accepts application documents between 1 May and 30 September for Bachelor programmes and 1 May and 20 December for Master programmes. Candidates for Doctorate programmes can send their documents throughout the year.
• For Master and PhD programmes candidates, the diploma for higher education must be recognized by UE – Varna before the application documents are sent to the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science. This process usually takes from 2 weeks to a couple of months in addition to the above mentioned procedures. After the diploma is recognized, the student receives confirmation of acceptance in his/her chosen programme. 
• Apart from the processing time at the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science, the length of the visa application process is different for each country. Each applicant should check how long the visa application process is at the Bulgarian Embassy in their country.
• We recommend to all applicants to submit their documents as early as possible so they can finish the application process and obtain a visa on time for the start of the academic year. 

You can submit diploma and diploma supplement via email in original language only for a preliminary examination of your eligibility to apply. The diploma and diploma supplement, the document certifying the applicant’s right to continue his/her education (only for Bachelor and Professional Bachelor degree candidates) must be translated and legalized in Bulgarian language.

• For programmes delivered in English or Russian, the applicant must verify his/her English/Russian language proficiency by presenting an internationally recognized certificate confirming B2 or higher level of language proficiency according to the Common European Language Framework or by passing a language exam at UE – Varna. The fee for the language exam is 180 EURO and is paid in advance.

• Bachelor programmes - 30 September
• Master programmes - 10 December
• Doctorate programmes - applications may be submitted at any time.

The tuition fee for the first semester is usually paid before the start of the academic year. However, some Bulgarian Embassies require proof for paid tuition for the purpose of issuing a visa for the applicant. Therefore, each applicant should check what the requirements of the Bulgarian Embassy for visa application are in his/her country. In cases where the Bulgarian Embassy requires such proof, the applicant must pay his/her tuition fee before visa application.

Students from non-EU countries are allowed to work 20 hours/week during the course of their studies. Their employer must register the student at the National Employment Agency.

All students enrolled for studies subsidized by the Bulgarian Government can apply for accommodation at the university dormitories. Students in paid studies (including all foreign students) are accommodated in private housing of their choice. 

UE – Varna provides the opportunity for students whose studies are fully or partially subsidized by the Government to apply for need-based and/or merit-based stipends provided by the Government. The number of those stipends is determined by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science.
