University of Economics – Varna

The Research Institute of the University of Economics – Varna was established by Act №285 of the Bulgarian Council of Ministers on October 21, 2015 for conducting long-term research activities in the priority scientific fields of the university. The Institute unites the existing 6 scientific centers of the University of Economics – Varna.
Priority in the activities of the Research Institute of the University of Economics – Varna approved by UE – Varna’s Academic Council are:

  • Green economy and sustainable development;
  • Digital transformation and digitalization;
  • Innovation and competitiveness; 
  • Economic, social and territorial convergence;
  • Crisis management. 

Strategic goals of the Institute are directing the scientific research activities towards major economic and social problems, strengthening the link university – business, supporting and encouraging the participation of the university’s academic staff in national and international scientific programs, etc.

One of the leading priorities of the Institute’s scientific work is the growth of the regional economy. Having this in consideration the Institute aims to develop a close relationship and cooperation with the local administration, business, other scientific centers, nongovernment organizations, etc. on the territory of Varna Region.

By creating the Institute, the University of Economics – Varna answers the dynamic and ever-changing socio-economic environment and key documents such as Strategy for the Development of the Higher Education in the Republic of Bulgaria for the period 2014-2020, National Strategy for the Development of Scientific Research 2020, the Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization of the Republic of Bulgaria 2014-2020, etc.
