Department of Informatics

The Department of Informatics was established in 1969 as the Department of Management of Economic Data Machine Processing. The eponymous degree programme was launched simultaneously and the first class comprised 40 students.

The Department is one of the largest at the university, with some of the youngest members of faculty and you can certainly trust them as highly qualified specialists, peers and friends.

Currently the Department of Informatics is the only one at UE – Varna that administers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in two professional fields: Informatics and Computer Science, and Economics.

The Department provides training in:

  • five BSc degree programmes: Informatics and Computer Science, Mobile and Web Technologies, Business Information Systems, Digital Technologies in Business, Data Science;
  • three MSc degree programmes: Mobile and Web Technologies, Information Management in Business, and Computer Science;
  • two PhD degree programmes: Informatics, and Computer Applications in the Economy.

Members of faculty also train all other UE – Varna students.

Our students have the opportunities:

  • to take part in a range of extracurricular events such as the Student Research Conference, the IT Master Class, the Coding Hacathon, design competitions and student competitions with financial awards.
  • to use on their own computers all Microsoft software products.
  • to get training in the Cisco certified network programmes.
