Thirty-two years after graduating from University of Economics – Varna, Dorotea Masaue from Tanzania visited her university. In 1994 she graduated UE – Varna with a degree in International Tourism and ever since she has been senior manager in the tourism industry in her home country, working for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and Tanzania Tourism Board. She met UE – Varna Rector, Prof. Evgeni Stanimirov; the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Partnerships, Assoc. Prof. Radan Miryanov; and Prof. Stoyan Marinov, a long-standing professor at University of Economics – Varna and co-chair of Varna Tourism Chamber. The guest shared key aspects of Tanzania’s tourism industry development, a country boasting 21 national parks (including Serengeti and Kilimanjaro), the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, 29 game reserves, 38 wildlife management areas, 464 natural forest reserves, and 142 cultural heritage sites. The discussions were about tourism industry collaborations, academic partnerships and student exchange programmes.

Ms. Masaue was accompanied by Mr. Kitubio Malisa, a Tanzania-born engineer with a degree from Varna who has lived in Veliki Preslav for over 30 years, and Mr. Hristo Mitev, a fellow engineer. After the meeting, Dorotea had a tour of University of Economics – Varna landmarks, visited again Auditorium 128, and reflected on the rich history of her 106-year-old Alma Mater.
