Varna will host the ceremony for the announcement of the European Youth Capital 2019, which is organized under the patronage of the Municipality of Varna. The event, organised by the European Youth Forum, as part of its General Assembly, will be held on 16 November.
European Youth Capital (EYC) is an annual initiative that has existed since 2009 and is organized by the European Youth Forum. The aim of the European Youth Capital, a title awarded by the European Youth Forum and selected by an independent high-level jury, is to promote an environment that supports young people and encourage them to participate in policy making and decision making at local and national level.
Varna will be the European Youth Capital 2017. The main focus of the application, with which the city won the award, is to encourage young people's participation in public life through the development of social innovation at local and international level.
Five cities fight in the 2019 competition: Manchester (UK), Amiens (France), Novi Sad (Serbia), Perugia (Italy) and Derry Strabane (Northern Ireland).
The official program includes presentations of the candidates, EYC2019 winner announcement, musical program featuring world beatbox champions SkilleR and Pe4enkata, Word and Mind, Connection Crew and special guest - surprise.
