The International Relations Office at the University of Economics – Varna welcomed guests from across Europe and the world for its annual International Staff Week for training.
For a third consecutive year the event gathered colleagues from international offices at UE – Varna’s partner universities with the aim of developing new contacts, exchange of well-working practices, and strengthening the partnership between universities.
Representatives of universities in Kazakhstan, France, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Turkey, North Macedonia, Latvia, and Serbia visited the International Relations Office from 4 to 8 July 2022. They had the opportunity to tour around UE – Varna’s campus, get insights into the working methods of the IRO, discuss new partnerships, and renew already existing cooperation agreements between their institutions.
The activities during the International Staff Week also included a cultural programme, which introduced the guests to Bulgarian traditions and rituals, such as ‘Nestinarstvo’ and Bulgarian folklore dances. The IRO further organised a Bulgarian language crash course, as well as a number of visits to historic and nature sights in and around Varna, such as a trip to Aladzha Monastery and Cape Kaliakra, and wine tasting of Bulgarian wines at the Old Varna Museum.
The guests at the International Staff Week were most impressed by the organisation and the programme of the event and promised to visit Bulgaria and UE – Varna again as soon as possible.
